Comprehensive review of performance indicators... and support for quality systems and drinking water safety and security
As part of the Alexandria Water Company’s commitment to enhancing quality systems and institutional excellence—and continuing to develop and elevate performance standards—the 2026 annual review meeting for the Laboratories and Quality Sector was held today, Saturday, September 5, 2026. The meeting was held under the patronage of Eng. El-Sayed Rayan, Chairman and Managing Director, and supervised by Dr. Lamiaa Mostafa, Head of the Laboratories and Quality Sector.
Attendees included Eng. Gweida Ali Soliman (Technical Deputy to the Chairman and Head of the Southern Zone Production and Distribution Sector), Eng. Mostafa El-Sayed (Head of Technology and Digital Services Sector), Eng. Walid Khader (Head of West and North Coast Production and Distribution Sector), Eng. Gaddafi Ibrahim (Head of East Production and Distribution Sector), and Eng. Ibrahim Hanafi (Head of Central Production and Distribution Sector), alongside the company’s general managers and department heads.
The meeting addressed a review of performance indicators and achievements within the laboratories and quality sectors and departments. Discussions covered analysis and calibration, the implementation of administrative and technical quality systems, and safety and security procedures. Additionally, the meeting evaluated services provided to external clients regarding analysis and calibration, reflecting the company's dedication to delivering outstanding services in accordance with the highest quality standards. The review session examined the efforts of the departments under the Laboratories and Quality Sector, with the participation of the General Department for East and Central Alexandria Station Laboratories, the General Department for West Alexandria Station Laboratories, the General Department for Quality and Environment, the General Department for the Central Laboratory, and the General Department for Water Safety and Security.
The meeting also showcased innovative ideas and development proposals presented by the company’s outstanding talent in collaboration with the Laboratories Sector. Key highlights included new programs to support digital transformation in data recording and management systems, a proposal to use eco-friendly materials in desalination processes (an innovation registered as a patent), and a project proposal for reusing filter backwash water—developed in cooperation with the Planning and Projects Sector. These initiatives underscore the company's commitment to fostering innovation and leveraging the exceptional ideas of its workforce.
The meeting commended the effective cooperation and integration between the Laboratories and Quality Sector and other company sectors—most notably the Technology and Digital Transformation Sector, the Human Resources Sector and General Department for Training, the Production and Distribution Sectors, and the Planning and Projects Sector. This collaboration helps unify efforts and enables the company to achieve its goals with efficiency and competence.
Engineer El-Sayed Hassan Rayan emphasized that quality is not merely a set of procedures or standards to be implemented, but rather a work methodology and corporate culture that the company strives to embed across all its sectors. He praised the efforts of the Laboratories and Quality Sector and its staff, affirming that investing in talent, innovation, and digital transformation is a cornerstone of the company’s strategy for continuous development and the pursuit of excellence. At the conclusion of the meeting, emphasis was placed on continuing to work with a unified team spirit and strengthening integration across the company’s various sectors and departments.
