Today, Professor Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansoua, Governor of Alexandria, held a meeting with Mr. Pierre Baye, Permanent Secretary of the Organization of French-speaking Mayors and Capitals, Dr. Pierre Vardel, President of Senghor University in Alexandria, and Minister Plenipotentiary Ibrahim El-Khouly, Director of Francophone Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss areas of cooperation that It could take place between Alexandria Governorate and the French-speaking Organization of Mayors and Capitals in many fields. This came in the presence of Mr. Ahmed Gamal, Deputy Governor of Alexandria, Professor Dr. Walid Abdel Azim, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University, and Engineer Ahmed Gaber, President of the Alexandria Drinking Water Company. Dr. Ahmed Al-Mallah, Assistant Governor, and representatives of the Alexandria Sanitation Company

Qanswa expressed his desire to cooperate with the organization in the areas of the environment and the field of preserving the city’s cultural and architectural heritage, especially since there is cooperation with the French city of Marseille in these areas, indicating that the governorate is working to significantly raise the efficiency of the hygiene system in the governorate. The governorate has begun We must work on the system through 3 stages. The first stage aims to collect without classifying waste, while the second stage aims to rehabilitate 3 factories, and the third stage aims to collect from homes. I hope that this stage will be generalized, and this is what is being worked on.

During the meeting, some projects were reviewed through which cooperation between the two sides could take place, including the project to develop primary health care units in Alexandria, as it is considered the first line of defense and is focused on protection from diseases more than treatment. The importance of primary health care units was clarified. In the governorate, their number, the number of employees, and the distribution of the units in all the governorate’s districts. It was explained that 24 health units were chosen, divided among all the districts, to be model health units.

At the same level, projects were reviewed through which the organization could partner with the drinking water company and the sanitation company in the governorate to provide services, especially to areas that are incapable and not served by sanitation, which would improve the level of services provided to citizens.
