Major General Magdy Al-Gharabli, Governor of Matrouh, and Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater, witnessed the launch of the Occupational Safety and Health Professionals Competition, at the Rumaila station, with the participation of 15 drinking water and wastewater companies in Lower Egypt governorates, in the presence of Representatives Suleiman Fadl and Mahdi Al-Omda. Dr. Ibrahim Khaled, head of the Matrouh Water and Sanitation Company, and employees of the Matrouh Water Company.

The competition began with a queue display for the participating teams, and a practical experiment to implement a plan to evacuate and rescue an injured person in a chlorine tank building, and to demonstrate the extent of efficiency and speed in confronting emergencies in closed spaces and rescuing an injured person. This was followed by drawing a lottery for the team rankings and starting the activities of the indoor entry competition.

The Governor of Matrouh and the attendees praised the extent of the efficiency and ability to deal with emergencies, stressing that these competitions are a strong motivation and incentive to raise the efficiency of employees and always strive for development and communication between distinguished companies, in addition to spreading the spirit of competition in order to develop performance, for the benefit of them and their community. Pointing out that the political leadership does not skimp in serving the people of Matrouh with the establishment of many projects, including the opening of several seawater desalination plants, adding a new achievement to the promising land of Matrouh Governorate.

The Governor of Matrouh thanked all the employees of the Matrouh Drinking Water and Sanitation Company for their efforts to improve the services provided to citizens, and for making the people of Matrouh feel what is being done to provide and preserve the water point.

The Matrouh Water and Wastewater Company had prepared during the past few days to host the occupational safety and health competition for drinking water and wastewater companies in Lower Egypt, which began today, Monday, and will continue for 3 days, with the participation of 15 companies, on dealing with emergency events and breakdowns, at the Rumaila Desalination Plant. Sea water, east of Marsa Matrouh city.

Dr. Engineer Ibrahim Khaled Al-Sayed, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Drinking Water and Wastewater in Matrouh, confirmed that the company is hosting the occupational safety and health competition for workers, for the second year in a row, under the patronage of Major General Magdy Al-Gharabli, Governor, and Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater, with the participation of 15 companies from Lower Egypt, Cairo and Alexandria, to filter between these companies, and 6 companies advanced to the final liquidation with the 6 companies that were advanced in the competition for companies in North Upper Egypt and Upper Egypt, which was held in Minya Company.

The head of the Matrouh Water Company added in exclusive statements to “Youm Seven” that the competition continues until next Wednesday, and includes the company’s teams applying rapid intervention work from technicians and engineers, to fix sudden malfunctions in the work of the stations and potential dangers such as chlorine gas leakage, in order to find out the best technical crews in the field. Repair and treat them as quickly as possible, while adhering to occupational safety and health requirements at the Rumaila seawater desalination plants site, with written and practical tests on dealing with malfunctions and events in closed, narrow and confined spaces, and practical tests on dealing with chlorine gas leakage, preventing its spread, and controlling leakage.

The competition is supervised by a jury from the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater, to evaluate the work and performance of the technical crews for occupational safety and health for the companies participating in the competition.
