A special meeting with Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater

Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, President of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, said that the water and wastewater sector witnessed several achievements during the last period, such as saving 25 million cubic meters of water on a daily basis, and covering the Republic with 97% of drinking water.

“Raslan” added, during a special interview with “Extra News” satellite channel, that the water and sanitation sector bears responsibility from 5 bodies, which are the executive bodies such as the “National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation, the executive body responsible for the governorates of Cairo, Alexandria, Qalyubia, and Giza, and the Communities Authority, which is Responsible for the new cities, the holding company, the regulatory body for drinking water and sanitation, and consumer protection, as he monitors the performance of the entire water system.

He continued that all holding companies provide amounts for operation and maintenance through the water tariff, which is paid by the Egyptian citizen, stressing that the state supports the first three water segments, and with regard to sanitation, rural residents were covered for drainage by 34%, and drainage coverage at the republic level was 56%. Pointing out that there are many sanitation projects under construction currently, and they are being financed through grants, loans, and an investment plan.
