In an atmosphere of enthusiasm, challenge and competition; Today, Occupational Safety and Health Week, in its sixth session, concluded its activities with the Republic Championship for Drinking Water and Wastewater Companies under the slogan “Developing Occupational Safety and Health Skills,” which was held at Al-Mansheya 2 station under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister Dr. Abdulaziz Qanswa, Governor of Alexandria, and Mr. Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Holding Company’s Board of Directors. For drinking water and sanitation, and Eng. Ahmed Gaber Shehata, President of the Alexandria Drinking Water Company, in the presence of a group of senior leaders in the subsidiary companies and an elite group of parliamentarians from various constituencies in Alexandria Governorate.
The activities began with a welcome speech delivered by Engineer Ahmed Gaber, announcing that the Alexandria Water Company has paid great attention to the field of occupational safety and health and securing the work environment to provide protections for workers in stations, networks, and chlorine wards, and for citizens in the surrounding areas. His Excellency pointed out the necessity of continuing to spread a culture of awareness by repeatedly organizing an annual week for occupational safety and health to enhance methods of dealing with crises and how to confront developments of all kinds. In addition to unifying the various concepts in this field among all drinking water and sanitation companies for the purpose of providing a safe work environment and a safe community.
For their part, the speakers, leaders and representatives present, stressed in their speech the importance of applying occupational safety and health standards and requirements in all establishments to reduce the rates of any injuries or crises. It is a matter of pride to participate in such an event; Which is established by one of the leading companies in the field of drinking water production; Which prompts us to set the necessary standards to spread preventive awareness in order to achieve the desired development in all vital sectors in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Then Brigadier General Amr El-Sheikh, Director General of Occupational Safety and Health at the Holding Company, announced the results of the competition, where the Alexandria Drinking Water Company won first place in dealing immediately and quickly with a chlorine gas leak, in addition to second place in dealing with closed spaces.
In conclusion, Engineer Ahmed Jaber Shehata honored all the winning teams by awarding them the Cup of Excellence and gold, silver and bronze medals, in addition to granting all participating companies certificates of appreciation for their pioneering role in this tournament. Occupational safety and health shields were also presented to those in charge of organizing and managing the competition in appreciation of their efforts to Sustainability of development.
