Within the framework of the activities of the World Water Day 2019 celebration under the slogan “Every Point Differs”, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister Dr. Abdel Aziz Qanswa, Governor of Alexandria; Yesterday morning, Friday, 3/22/2019, a marathon was organized, starting from the Stanley Bridge to the chain, with the participation of both the Alexandria Water and Sanitation Company and with the cooperation of many executive agencies in the governorate, namely: the Directorate of Education and Endowments, the Public Transport Authority, and the University of Alexandria, in addition to; A group of young runners and people with special needs participating from various parts of Alexandria.
Engineer Ahmed Gaber, President of the Alexandria Water Company, gave the start signal for the marathon at exactly eight o’clock in the morning, and at the end point he honored the winners of the first three places with cups, medals and certificates of appreciation. Then, His Excellency addressed a word of thanks and gratitude to all the parties participating and supporting the organization of this event, and the events continued independently. Public transport buses with the flags of the Republic and the Alexandria Water and Sanitation Company raised, and informational signs carrying awareness phrases to educate citizens about the importance of preserving a drop of water. To the tunes of water rationalization songs, vehicles drove from the Silsila area to Bahri, and awareness banners were raised in front of the Al-Morsi Abu Al-Abbas Mosque, and gifts and publications were distributed to the public. In accordance with the joint cooperation protocol between the Alexandria Water Company and the Ministry of Endowments, the Friday sermon was unified today for more than (105) mosques in the Al-Gomrok district, highlighting the necessity of rationalizing water consumption to maintain water security for the sake of future generations. Religious lessons on water will continue throughout the next unified water week.
