Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Major General Adel Ghadhban, Governor of Port Said, witnessed on Thursday the opening of the 54th edition of the Republic Championship for Companies, which bears the name “A Decent Life.”
This took place at the Sports City in the Suburbia neighborhood in Port Said, in the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Hussein, Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee in the House of Representatives, and Dr. Hosni Ghandar, President of the Egyptian Sports Federation.
About 15,000 athletes working in 173 companies are participating in the tournament, competing in a range of sports
The Alexandria Water Company team won first place in the men's cross country race
The company also won 30 medals in athletics, including 15 gold, 11 silver, and 4 bronze medals. And two first place cups in athletics and cross-country. Also, a new record was recorded in the name of the company in the men’s 5 km/m walking race, for the player Islam. Abdel Tawab holds Egypt's number in the companies and the Republic Championship for a time of 20.2 minutes
The previous record was in the name of his coach at Al-Ahly Club, Captain Hamed Farag, with a time of 20.8 minutes.
During his presence at the Olympic Center in Maadi, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, honored the player Mustafa Tayara and the player Hisham Hawash.
