Alexandria Water celebrates World Water Day
Under the slogan (every point makes a difference)
Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, President of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater, announced that, within the framework of the directives of the political leadership and the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and based on the Holding Company’s goals of the importance of raising water awareness, the “Every Drop Makes a Difference” celebration activities have begun as part of the national campaign to rationalize water consumption. Coinciding with World Water Day, March 22 of each year, in partnership with the Ministries of Endowments and Culture, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the Church, and the General Federation of Scouts.
He confirmed the participation of water companies in all governorates in the activities, with the participation of water company awareness teams in coordination with scout teams and representatives from the endowments, the church, and culture, and the organization of a celebration that includes an exhibition of children’s drawings, a play about rationalizing water consumption, and honoring the participating children.
The Ministry of Endowments devoted religious lessons throughout the week to the importance of rationalizing water consumption. Al-Azhar Al-Sharif also scheduled a “radio program” for more than ten thousand Azhari institutes on Tuesday, March 22, about the issue of water and its importance. Churches devoted part of the Sunday sermon to the necessity of preserving water.
He pointed out that, as part of the celebration of Water Day, the affiliated companies in the governorates carry out awareness activities throughout the week, with children in schools, plumbing workshops with women, door-knocking campaigns, awareness seminars with the participation of opinion leaders and rural women pioneers, and awareness-raising activities in coordination with the National Council for Women and the National Center for Women. In the context of this, and in the presence of Mr. Major General Mohamed Al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria, and under his patronage, Mr. Eng. Ahmed Gaber, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Alexandria Drinking Water Company, inaugurated the activities of celebrating World Water Day at the Library of Alexandria.
In the presence of Mr. Major General Mahmoud Nafi, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Sanitation Company in Alexandria, and a group of Alexandria leaders, headed by the Military Advisor in Alexandria, the representatives, the directors of the directorates of education, youth and sports, the General Federation of Scouts and Guides, and the National Council for Women.
The celebration activities included presentations on the importance of water in our lives and the necessity of preserving it, and that everyone works from his place to spread water awareness among members of society, as well as the efforts made by the company and the governorate to develop the water system through projects that are implemented to preserve every drop of water.
The event was also completed with various artistic performances, theatrical performances, and performances by the Sea Scouts band.
