In light of the activities of Water Week, and under the slogan “Every Point Differs,” the Alexandria Water Company, headed by Engineer Ahmed Gaber, celebrated the annual “World Water Day.”

At the forefront of the audience were Mr. Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, President of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater, Dr. Jacqueline Azer, Deputy Governor of Alexandria, Dr. Salah Bayoumi, Vice President of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater, Engineer Mahmoud Nafi, President of the Sanitation Company in Alexandria, and Engineer Nadia Abdo, Governor of Beheira. Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, President of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater, said: The world celebrates “World Water Day” on March 22 of each year, to draw attention to the importance of water, and to call for sustainable management of freshwater resources, noting that the Holding Company and its companies The affiliates in the various governorates of the Republic have been keen to celebrate this important event annually since 2005, to spread the culture of rationalizing water consumption, spread awareness among citizens about water issues, and modify wrong practices in dealing with it.

He added that the holding company and its subsidiaries in the governorates of the Republic launched the activities of the national campaign to rationalize water consumption, “Every Drop Counts,” during the period from 10 to 16 March 2023, which targets 25 villages in various governorates of the Republic, according to specific criteria, to measure the impact of the campaign in spreading awareness and changing behavior. On scientific grounds, through pre- and post-measurement of knowledge.

Engineer Ahmed Gaber, President of the Alexandria Drinking Water Company, said that World Water Day aims to raise awareness of water issues, and the main focus of this occasion is on supporting the sixth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, which addresses the issue of providing water and sanitation services for all by 2030, until World Water Day has become an effective platform to support dialogue on water issues, the importance of which increases day by day.

His Excellency stressed that one of the company's most important roles is to educate citizens about the importance of water conservation and proper methods of rationalizing consumption, noting that Alexandria Governorate, due to its geographical location, faces many challenges facing the water sector, most notably climate change, so the company develops an integrated strategy to confront these challenges in accordance with its goals and vision. Major General Mahmoud Nafie, head of the Alexandria Sanitation Company, also stressed the importance of educating citizens on how to maintain state development facilities and projects in the drinking water and sewage sectors and how to optimally use sewage networks.
