Alexandria Water Company obtained first place in the performance evaluation in water safety and security for the fiscal year 2022-2023..

Mr. Engineer Ahmed Gaber, President of the Alexandria Water Company, announced that the company obtained first place in evaluating the performance of water safety and security for the fiscal year 2022-2023 at the level of subsidiaries in the report of the General Department of Quality of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater in the field of water safety and security.

His Excellency emphasized the company's keenness to activate the water safety and security methodology to keep drinking water safe at all times, and the company's continuous endeavor to obtain safety certificates for all stations' supply systems.

Mrs. Dr. Lamia Mustafa, Head of the Factories Sector, stated that the beneficiaries of water safety and security plans are 5.9 million citizens out of 6.5 million people, with a total amount of water produced of 2.8 million m3/day out of 3.5 million m3/day, at a rate of 80%.

The targeted strategic plan is for all supply systems to obtain a water safety and security certificate by the end of 2024, with the activation of all tactical and operational objectives, and the follow-up of the implementation of corrective measures issued by water safety and security plans in partnership with the planning and projects sector, the production and distribution sectors to which the stations and the financial and commercial sector belong.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Shami, Director of the Water Safety and Security Department, pointed out the most important evaluation items, which are:

• The ratio of insured water to the total amount of produced water.

• Rates of follow-up on the implementation of corrective measures in each company.

• The number of plans approved by the Supreme Water Committee.

• Rapid response to the holding company’s correspondence.

He stressed the keenness of the Water Safety and Security Department to follow the unified instructions for implementing water safety and security plans issued by the General Administration of Quality of the Holding Company and to activate the checklists of the General Administration of Quality and the Drinking Water, Sanitation and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency to increase and raise the efficiency of meeting requirements, and how to deal with them while adhering to the annual target. .
