Within the framework of the directives of Mr. Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater, yesterday Mr. Engineer Ahmed Gaber, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Drinking Water Company in Alexandria, opened a workshop to unify the procedures of the executive plan for the process of rationalizing the consumption of raw materials “alum and chlorine”, in order to unify The executive plan items include work procedures, integrity support procedures, and performance indicators to come up with a unified executive plan that will be circulated to the affiliated companies to work within a unified operational framework, with the participation of drinking water and wastewater companies in the governorates of: Alexandria Water, Cairo, Giza, Sharkia, Fayoum, Beheira, Matrouh, Canal cities, Minya, Assiut, North and South Sinai.

During his speech, Mr. Eng. Ahmed Jaber explained that the application of integrity support comes as a nod to what is contained in Article 218 of the Constitution, which stipulates the obligation of institutions to coordinate among themselves to combat corruption, as achieving integrity goals depends on observing the principle of good governance. His Excellency also stressed the importance of rationalizing the consumption of raw materials. Especially alum and chlorine, as they are among the priority processes in line with the state’s direction regarding rationalization of government spending.

His Excellency praised the effective role of supporting integrity in companies due to the positive results they achieved in developing various operations procedures and filling work gaps, most notably administrative negligence, and the interest in implementing digital transformation.

Mr. Engineer Ahmed Jaber concluded his speech by pointing out that integrity should not be confused with oversight and follow-up, as integrity is a proactive oversight that prevents any gaps or risks before they occur, which is what distinguishes it from other departments.

In the same context, Ms. Ghada Abdel Wahab, Head of the Human Resources and Integrity Support Sector at the Holding Company, explained that meeting companies in workshops is an important mechanism for supporting integrity due to the exchange of experiences between companies and participation in standardizing procedures, which is reflected in the development of the companies’ overall performance.

Regarding integrity support procedures and their relationship to work procedures, Mr. Ahmed Gamal, Director of Quality and Integrity Support Department at the Holding Company, explained that integrity support procedures ensure the application of operations procedures more tightly and effectively.

Over the course of “4” days, the workshop will address the unification of all items of the executive plan, including performance indicators, human and material resources, and procedures that support integrity, the most important of which is the unification of work with standard operating procedures (SOP) and standard maintenance procedures (SMP), applying the principle of reward and punishment, creating an electronic system for data on semi consumption rates, and paying attention to determining The needs of chlorine and alums, and obliging the stations to adhere to the procedures for storing and handling chlorine, taking into account the standardization of procedures in a manner that is compatible with all companies, in the presence of Ms. Yusser Salah El-Din, General Director of Board Affairs at the Alexandria Drinking Water Company, and the company’s Integrity Support Department work team.

These workshops come within the framework of implementing the operational plan for the Integrity Support Departments for the year 2023, and based on the direction of the Quality and Integrity Support Department of the Holding Company in unifying work procedures in various operations between companies to establish preventive measures that support integrity and protect companies from the risks of corruption.

It is worth noting that the Integrity Support Program is one of the programs implemented within the Nile Delta Water Management Program project of the German Agency for International Cooperation (NDWM-GIZ) implemented in Egypt.
