Alexandria Water organizes the closing ceremony of the “Their Health, Their Future” initiative..

The Alexandria Drinking Water Company, headed by Mr. Eng. Ahmed Gaber, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director, participated in the annual celebration activities at the Victoria College Theater under the slogan “Their Health, Their Future,” which aims to enhance health awareness and spread the culture of rationalizing water consumption among future generations.

The celebration was held in cooperation between the water company and the Ministry of Education, headed by Dr. Arabi Abu Zeid, First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Alexandria, and UNICEF, headed by Dr. Ihab Abdel Aziz, Director of the Water and Environmental Sanitation Program at UNICEF.

The celebration began with the opening of the children's exhibition, which includes a distinguished group of works and paintings urging not to waste water use, then a documentary presentation about the initiative, followed by a number of artistic and theatrical segments specifically about rationalizing water consumption.

In a speech by Dr. Arabi Abu Zeid, First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, he indicated that the goal of the system is to comply with the state’s strategic plan for the safe use of water, and that the Their Health, Their Future initiative came as a result of fruitful cooperation between the Directorate of Education and the Alexandria Water Company, out of their belief in the importance of instilling health concepts. The public, spreading the culture of rationalizing water consumption and promoting positive behaviors among young people as they are the builders of the future and the hope of the nation.

He added that the Directorate, in coordination with the Water Company, implemented the activities of the Supreme Coordination Committee for the awareness project on the necessity of raising national awareness of the importance of rationalizing water consumption and preserving the state’s natural resources, in the presence of the directors of all the targeted educational departments, security, sustainable development and social education, pointing out that Alexandria Governorate has one million and 420 thousand. School students. The directorate played an important role in delivering awareness seminars to all of them.

The partnership between the Directorate and the Water Company resulted in the signing of a protocol to train a number of trainers of trainers according to the “TOT” program, so that 300 targets are trained in 150 schools, and the crystallization of these training programs in the form of purposeful educational activities practiced by students on water rationalization and conservation.

Believing in the issue of water, and under the slogan “Every drop makes a difference” and societal and educational responsibility, His Excellency confirmed that the directorate organizes many awareness campaigns for students and teachers on a permanent basis, and that water-saving parts have been installed in more than 70% of schools.

For his part, Engineer Ahmed Jaber stressed that the aim of the Their Health, Their Future initiative is to educate students about the importance of maintaining public health, spreading the culture of rationalizing water consumption, and promoting positive behaviors in future generations.

He added that this initiative contributes to building a conscious and healthy society capable of facing challenges. We also hope to create other similar initiatives that contribute to spreading awareness and knowledge, promoting positive behaviors among members of society, and creating a role model for fruitful cooperation between various stakeholders in order to enhance public health and spread a culture of Rationalizing the consumption of natural resources.

His Excellency also indicated that this initiative is considered a first stage of joint cooperation, which aims to educate students and children in schools about rationalization of consumption, climate change, and the importance of sound and healthy behavioral habits that greatly affect the health of our children, and to educate them about the nutritional and health aspects.

At the end of the celebration, shields and certificates of appreciation were distributed to the organizers of the ceremony and the guests.
