Alexandria Water Company achieves the first level in the evaluation of water safety and security for the fiscal year 2023-2024..

Engineer Ahmed Gaber, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alexandria Water Company, announced that the company achieved the first level in the evaluation of water safety and security performance for the fiscal year 2023-2024. This evaluation came from the General Administration of Water Safety and Security and Sanitation at the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, which praised the company's efforts in ensuring the quality of drinking water and applying the highest safety standards.

Engineer Ahmed Gaber stressed that the company always seeks to apply innovative methodologies to maintain water safety and ensure a sustainable and safe supply of water to the residents of Alexandria Governorate. He added that the company is constantly working to develop supply systems and obtain safety certificates for all stations, in order to enhance its commitment to providing safe drinking water for all.

For her part, Dr. Lamia Mustafa, Head of the Laboratories Sector, explained that the company serves about 6.5 million people, and produces 3.5 million cubic meters of water daily with a 100% safety rate. The company aims to complete the preparation and approval of all water safety and security plans by the end of 2024, with the company soon to receive the Holding Company's shield as evidence of its excellence in this field.

She also pointed out that the company's strategic plan focuses on improving all water supply systems in cooperation with the planning and projects sectors, and the production and distribution sectors, with continuous follow-up to implement corrective measures according to water safety and security plans.

In a related context, Dr. Ahmed Al-Shami, Director General of Water Safety and Security, indicated that the most prominent evaluation criteria include the percentage of secured water to the total water produced, the number of approved plans, and the speed of response to the Holding Company's correspondence. He stressed that the General Administration of Water Safety and Security works to follow the unified guidelines issued by the Holding Company and keep pace with annual requirements accurately.

Eng. Ahmed Gaber also expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation for the technical and moral support provided by the General Department of Water Safety and Security at the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, in addition to the Drinking Water and Wastewater Regulatory Authority and Consumer Protection. He also thanked all concerned parties, including the Ministry of Health, the Environmental Affairs Agency, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, and the Alexandria Governorate and districts, for their great efforts in improving the quality of drinking water.
