Alexandria Water Company holds a meeting of the Civil Society Committee to support cooperation between government institutions and civil society..

Alexandria Drinking Water Company organized a meeting of the Civil Society Committee, headed by Eng. Ahmed Gaber, Chairman and Managing Director, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation with state institutions and civil society organizations with the aim of improving the quality of services and supporting sustainable development in Alexandria Governorate.

The meeting was attended by a number of prominent figures, including Major General Mahmoud Nafeh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alexandria Wastewater Company, Dr. Arabi Abu Zeid, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Magda El Shazly, representative of the National Council for Women, and a number of representatives of ministries, civil society organizations, Al-Azhar, and the Church.

Eng. Ahmed Gaber opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees, stressing the importance of cooperation between government institutions and civil society organizations to achieve common goals that serve society and enhance the quality of services provided to citizens. His Excellency also stressed that these joint efforts contribute to achieving sustainable development and building trust between various institutions and citizens.

Major General Mahmoud Nafea welcomed the attendees, calling for increased cooperation between the parties to achieve the best service for the residents of Alexandria Governorate, while His Eminence Sheikh Asem Mahmoud Qubaisi spoke about the necessity of rationalizing water consumption and preserving it in line with the directives of Islam that urge not to waste resources. Father Nofer Ilham, representative of the Patriarchate of St. Mark, added that water is a great blessing that God has given us, and a trust that we must use and preserve well. Our role as religious institutions is to raise awareness of the importance of preserving these precious resources, and to instill in the hearts of new generations the values ​​of responsibility towards the environment and natural resources through partnership with the Alexandria Drinking Water Company and various parties. We also seek to enhance the concept of sustainability and benevolence in the use of resources, and we look forward to joining efforts to serve the community and provide a decent and sustainable life for every citizen.

Dr. Arabi Abu Zeid praised the cooperation between the Drinking Water Company and the Education Directorate to spread awareness about the importance of preserving water among students, pointing out that awareness seminars have been organized in more than 200 schools in Alexandria Governorate, and that schools have been provided with water-saving pieces.

Dr. Magda El Shazly also praised the cooperation between the sewage and water companies during the winter, which contributes to improving the services provided to citizens and facing the climate challenges witnessed by the governorate.

This meeting is an important step towards enhancing cooperation between government agencies and civil society to achieve common goals and raise the level of environmental and water awareness among citizens, which positively reflects on the quality of life in Alexandria.
