The Galala Water Desalination Plant is one of the prominent projects in Egypt, with a production capacity of 150,000 cubic meters per day of potable water that conforms to standard specifications. The plant operates with high efficiency thanks to a team of 70 individuals distributed among the operation and maintenance teams, which contributes to providing 4,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, and helps achieve development in the region.
The station consists of several main units that ensure the integration of water desalination stages until the produced water pumping station that pumps the treated water to its final destinations. The station also includes advanced maintenance workshops and warehouses equipped to store equipment, spare parts and necessary operational materials, in addition to facilities for employee services and a final treatment system to ensure the quality of the produced water, in addition to chemical tanks used in treatment processes.
This visit comes under the wise leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and the state's keenness to innovate and promote entrepreneurship in the field of water desalination and treatment, and to invest all available water resources according to the latest scientific methods and international specifications. Egypt considers this approach an urgent necessity in light of global challenges, including climate change and population growth, which makes water shortage a major challenge to human development.
In the context of the state's efforts for urban expansion, Mr. President directed the establishment of Al-Jalala City as an integrated city on an area of 19 thousand acres, including advanced infrastructure, tourist villages, recovery areas, and various residential areas, in addition to educational areas, universities and factories to provide integrated services that meet the needs of the region.
