In a new achievement that reflects the commitment of the Alexandria Drinking Water Company to provide a distinguished service that meets the highest quality standards, Eng. Ahmed Gaber, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, announced passing the renewal and review visit conducted by the General Administration Committee for Water and Wastewater Safety and Security at the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater during the period from December 15 to 19, 2024.
This visit came to ensure the activation of the corrective measures issued by the water safety and security plans for the supply systems of the Central and Eastern water stations, including the stations of Mansheya (2), El-Nozha, El-Maamoura, and Sharqi, and during it the efficiency of implementing the updated plans was evaluated to ensure the provision of safe and suitable drinking water for citizens.
The visit was headed by Dr. Walid Hosni, Director of Water Safety Department, along with Dr. Mohamed El-Sayed, Director of Drainage Safety Department, and Dr. Alaa Salem, Water and Sanitation Safety Expert, and with the follow-up of Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Rahman, General Manager of the General Department of Water and Sanitation Safety and Safety at the Holding Company.
Most notable achievements:
• Implementation of the necessary corrective measures that were carried out over two years.
• A comprehensive review of the supply and treatment systems for each station, with follow-up of the implementation steps on the ground.
• Implementation of improvements at a cost of nearly 23 million pounds, in addition to projects within the “Decent Life” initiative and procedures implemented through self-efforts.
• Praising the cooperation of all sectors of the company, such as production and distribution, laboratories, planning and projects to ensure the achievement of water safety goals.
Engineer Ahmed Gaber stressed that the company attaches great importance to water safety and security plans, noting that they represent an absolute necessity to preserve the public health of society and the environment. Dr. Lamia Mustafa, Head of the Laboratories Sector, added that these efforts come within the framework of the company's commitment to implementing Egypt's Vision 2030, to ensure the provision of high-quality drinking water. Dr. Ahmed Al-Shami, General Manager of Water Safety and Security, said that all treatment stages were reviewed to demonstrate actual implementation on the ground to discuss ways to emphasize the available control tools and raise their efficiency to prevent loss of control over risks.
At the end of the visit, the Renewal and Review Committee praised the company's effective role in implementing corrective measures, and stressed the importance of cooperation between all parties to achieve the goals of safety plans.
It is worth noting that the Water Safety Plans Accreditation Certificate is one of the highest international accreditations granted to water service providers, as it depends on the approval of three main parties: the Ministry of Health, the Drinking Water and Sanitation Regulatory Authority and Consumer Protection, and the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation, according to the World Health Organization's guidelines.
