Alexandria Drinking Water Company, headed by Engineer Ahmed Jaber, announced the adoption of the water safety and security plan for the Mariout (2) station supply system, during the session of the Supreme Water Committee held on January 28, 2025. This adoption comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts to ensure water quality, preserve the public health of citizens, and achieve the highest safety standards at all stages of supply from source to consumer.
Engineer Ahmed Jaber, Chairman of Alexandria Water Company, stressed that implementing water safety and security plans is one of the basic pillars for maintaining the quality of drinking water, by assessing and managing potential risks, and developing appropriate corrective measures to neutralize them. He also explained that adopting this plan reflects the company's commitment to implementing international standards issued by the World Health Organization, and continuous coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure providing distinguished service to citizens.
For her part, Dr. Lamia Mustafa, Head of the Laboratories and Research Sector, explained that all the necessary requirements for preparing the water safety and security plan have been met, in cooperation between the company's internal work teams and external work teams from the relevant authorities, ensuring the highest levels of safety and quality in the water supply process.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Shami, Director General of Water Safety and Security, pointed out that the approval of this plan is one of the highest accreditation certificates granted to water service providers, as it is renewed every two years based on the approval of the Ministry of Health, the Regulatory Authority for Drinking Water and Consumer Protection, and the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the World Health Organization.
In this context, Engineer Ahmed Jaber congratulated all the teams participating in preparing and implementing the plan, including the Laboratories Sector, the General Administration of Water Safety and Security, the Southern Region Sector, and the relevant external authorities from the Ministries of Health, Water Resources and Irrigation, Environment, Alexandria Governorate, and the relevant districts, on this great achievement that enhances the level of service provided to citizens.
