Alexandria Water Company Holds Higher Coordination Committee for Water Conservation Awareness...

As part of the Alexandria Drinking Water Company's efforts to spread the culture of water conservation and preserve natural resources, Engineer Ahmed Gaber, Chairman and Managing Director, attended the activities of the Higher Coordination Committee for the Water Conservation Awareness Project. The event was attended by Dr. Arabi Abu Zeid, Director of the Alexandria Education Directorate, and Dr. Mohamed Mustafa, UNICEF Egypt's Water Officer in Alexandria Governorate, in addition to a number of executive and educational leaders in the governorate.

Engineer Ahmed Gaber emphasized that these activities are part of the fruitful partnership between the Alexandria Drinking Water Company and the Education Directorate, under the slogan "Their Health is Their Future," in implementation of the political leadership's directives to raise national awareness of the importance of water conservation and rationalization. He also noted that the company is working in coordination with the Education Directorate to implement intensive awareness campaigns in schools. A number of trainers of trainers have been trained according to the TOT program, resulting in the training of 400 targeted participants in 200 schools. The goal is to transfer knowledge and promote positive behavior toward water consumption.

He explained that the Alexandria Drinking Water Company has installed water-saving devices in the governorate's schools, contributing to a reduction in consumption by more than 70%. He emphasized the continuation of efforts to spread these awareness initiatives to ensure the sustainability of water resources for future generations.

Dr. Mohamed Mustafa, UNICEF Egypt's Water Officer in Alexandria Governorate, emphasized that UNICEF's participation comes within the framework of activating the cooperation protocol between the Alexandria Drinking Water Company and UNICEF Egypt, which aims to support efforts to raise awareness of the importance of rationalizing water consumption and improving water infrastructure in schools, which will positively impact the health and safety of students.

In this context, Dr. Arabi Abu Zeid, Director of the Alexandria Education Directorate, emphasized that the cooperation with the Alexandria Drinking Water Company and UNICEF Egypt reflects the directorate's commitment to promoting environmental awareness among students, noting that schools play a pivotal role in instilling a culture of water conservation among the younger generations.
