Alexandria Water Company Successfully Completes Water Safety Plan Renewal and Review Visit...

As part of its ongoing efforts to provide safe and high-quality drinking water services, the Alexandria Drinking Water Company, headed by Eng. Ahmed Gaber, Chairman and Managing Director, announced the successful completion of the Water Safety Plan Renewal and Review Visit. The visit was conducted by the General Management Committee for Water Safety and Wastewater at the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, during the period from April 28 to 29, 2025.

The visit aimed to ensure the implementation and activation of corrective measures issued by the Water Safety Plan for the West and South Alexandria Water Supply System. It included a field assessment of the Mansheya (1) Water Station, monitoring the implementation of the updated plan to ensure the provision of safe and potable drinking water to citizens.

The visit was headed by Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Rahman, General Manager of the Water Safety and Security Department at the Holding Company, and was accompanied by:

• Dr. Alaa Farid, Director of the Sustainability Assurance Department

• Dr. Walid Hosni, Director of the Water Safety Department

• Dr. Alaa Salem, Water Safety and Wastewater Expert

Key Achievements During the Visit:

• Implementation of necessary corrective measures over the past two years.

• A comprehensive review of the station's supply and treatment systems, and monitoring of actual improvements on the ground.

• Implementation of improvement projects at a total cost estimated at EGP 15 million, in addition to projects within the "Decent Life" initiative and other improvements achieved through the company's own efforts.

• Commendation of the effective cooperation between the company's various sectors (production, distribution, laboratories, planning, and projects).

Engineer Ahmed Gaber emphasized that the company attaches utmost importance to water safety and security plans, as they are one of the fundamental pillars of preserving public health and the environment. He noted that these efforts are part of supporting Egypt's Vision 2030.

Dr. Lamia Mustafa, Head of the Laboratory Sector, explained that adherence to safety standards is a strategic commitment that reflects the company's commitment to water quality and the efficiency of treatment systems.

Dr. Ahmed El Shamy, General Manager of Water Safety and Security, also noted that the committee inspected all stages of treatment at the plant to monitor the implementation of monitoring and control tools and ensure their effectiveness in addressing any potential risks.

At the conclusion of the visit, the committee expressed its appreciation for the company's effective role in implementing corrective measures and emphasized the importance of continued coordination and integration among all relevant parties to achieve the objectives of the water safety and security plans.

It's worth noting that the Water Safety Plans Accreditation Certificate is one of the most prestigious international certifications in the field of drinking water. It is granted following joint accreditation by the Ministry of Health, the Drinking Water, Wastewater and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency, and the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, in accordance with guidelines issued by the World Health Organization.
