Alexandria Water Company Announces Renewal of ISO 50001 Energy Management System Certification...

As part of the Alexandria Water Company's commitment to implementing an effective management system that aligns with local and international sustainable development goals and takes into account economic, societal, and environmental dimensions, Eng. Ahmed Gaber, Chairman and Managing Director, announced the renewal of the ISO 50001-2018 Energy Management System certification for the Mansheya (2) Water Plant.

This certification was achieved through an external audit by the awarding body, SGS, an internationally accredited company in the field of energy certification by the Italian accreditation body ACCREDIA. This ensures that the Alexandria Water Company maintains its position as the first subsidiary of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater to obtain the certification since 2023 and maintains its continuity.

Engineer Ahmed Gaber pointed out that the effective implementation of the company's energy management system is a major step toward promoting a culture of rationalizing energy consumption and energy efficiency. It also expands reliance on renewable energy, which will reduce operating costs and contribute significantly to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the carbon footprint of all the company's activities and operations.

He also expressed his appreciation to the team involved in implementing the system, praising the teamwork spirit between the General Department of Energy Conservation, the Mansheya (2) Station, the General Department of the Technical Office, and the Quality Assurance Department in their efforts to develop advanced technical solutions that contribute to achieving the highest levels of control over operational systems from an energy perspective, fulfilling the company's aspirations and highlighting its societal and environmental role.

It is worth noting that the ISO 50001 Energy standard aims to reduce energy consumption by improving energy efficiency, thereby reducing costs, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting environmental sustainability, which leads to achieving sustainable development goals.
