The Minister of Housing and the Governor of Alexandria inspect the control center of the Alexandria Drinking Water Company to monitor the progress of work and manage crises...
The Alexandria Drinking Water Company, headed by Eng. Ahmed Gaber, Chairman and Managing Director, received Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, this morning. El-Sherbiny was accompanied by a high-level delegation that included Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing; Eng. Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater; Professor Dr. Salah Bayoumi, Vice Chairman of the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater; Dr. Ahmed Abdel Qader, Chairman of the Executive Authority for Drinking Water and Wastewater; Dr. Mohamed Hassan, Chairman of the Regulatory Authority for Drinking Water and Wastewater; and Major General Mahmoud Nafea, Chairman of the Alexandria Wastewater Company.
The delegation was received by Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled Hassan Saeed, Governor of Alexandria, who accompanied the Minister during his inspection tour of the company's facilities.
The tour included monitoring the progress of work within the Command and Control Center and Crisis Management Center. The Minister and Governor listened to a detailed explanation of the center's operating mechanism, which is equipped with the latest communications and surveillance equipment, a fully equipped crisis management vehicle, and advanced software managed by a highly trained team.
Their Excellencies and the attendees were also briefed on the center's tasks, which include receiving reports from various operations rooms, issuing work permits, coordinating with utility companies during repairs, monitoring station operation data and pressures around the clock, monitoring water quality and security through surveillance cameras, and monitoring the movement of company vehicles through a GIS system. The minister also reviewed the current status of the governorate's drinking water system, which serves Alexandria Governorate and parts of Beheira and Marsa Matrouh Governorates. The center operates through 10 water stations with a design capacity of approximately 3.534 million cubic meters per day, 42 water lifts, 37 customer service centers, and a water network extending 9,483 km.
The company's future plans were also reviewed, as part of Egypt's Vision 2030. These focus on developing infrastructure and meeting the growing needs resulting from urban expansion and population growth, as well as measures to rationalize energy and water consumption, reduce waste, and support the company's digital transformation.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Minister and Governor inspected the Ibrahimia Water Customer Service Center at the Kom El-Dikka Services Complex, where they were briefed on the progress of work and the mechanisms for providing services to citizens. The Minister of Housing expressed his appreciation for the level of performance at the control and command center, praising the efficiency of the work team and the fruitful coordination with the Alexandria Governorate. He also directed that further efforts be made to meet current and future needs, ensure adherence to the timetables for the operation of new stations or those currently under development, and expedite the response to priority areas ("hotspots").
In his speech, Engineer Ahmed Gaber emphasized that the company was honored by the visit of His Excellency the Minister of Housing and the Governor, which represents strong support for the employees and encouragement to continue working to develop the infrastructure and improve the quality of services. He added that the company operates according to a clear strategy based on Egypt's Vision 2030.
He added, "We strive to enhance digital transformation, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency. We also reaffirm our full commitment to cooperating with all parties to achieve sustainable development and optimally serve Alexandrian citizens."
