Opening Session to Follow Up on Implementation of Water Safety and Security Measures for the Supply Systems at Mariout 1 and Furn El-Garaya...

As part of the Alexandria Drinking Water Company's commitment to enhancing the efficiency of its operations and ensuring the application of the highest standards of safety and security methodology, Eng. Ahmed Gaber, Chairman and Managing Director, held the opening session to review and follow up on the corrective measures issued by the supply systems at Mariout 1 and Furn El-Garaya.

The session was attended by representatives of the relevant ministries and external bodies (the Environmental Affairs Agency, the Central Administration for Water Resources and Irrigation in Alexandria and Beheira Governorates, the Alexandria and Beheira Health Affairs Directorate, the Alexandria Governorate, and the Wastewater Company), along with internal work teams from various company sectors.

The technical support team from the General Department of Water and Wastewater Safety and Security at the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater was at the forefront of the attendees, including:

The meeting reviewed the definition of safety and security and some of the company's achievements in this field during 2025, as well as the corrective measures implemented to ensure water safety and security for the supply systems of the Mariout 1 and Furn El-Garaya water stations, in partnership with all company sectors and in cooperation and coordination with external work teams. This is in preparation for the meeting. To renew the water safety and security certificates for both systems.

Water safety and security plans for drinking water and mechanisms for implementing related standards were discussed, ensuring business sustainability, operational safety, and protecting the environment and public health.

During the meeting, Dr. Lamia Mustafa, Head of the Laboratories Sector, emphasized that the company prioritizes safety and security as one of the fundamental pillars of providing sustainable and safe services to citizens. She emphasized that cooperation and coordination with various stakeholders is a key element for the success of corrective plans and achieving the highest performance rates.

Engineer Ahmed Jaber indicated that the coming period will witness further development measures at the stations and drinking water system, in line with the state's directives to improve infrastructure and various services, ensure the provision of safe and healthy drinking water for all citizens, and implement the highest standards of safety and sustainability in the stations' supply systems.
