Eng. Ahmed Gaber, Chairman and Managing Director of Alexandria Water Company, stated that a project to replace, renew and install a 6" plastic pipeline and a 20" flexible cast iron pipeline was implemented in the areas of West El-Hariri, Abu Mandour and Rashid Road, with a length of 1743 m, which led to improving the service for approximately 405 thousand people. The old, dilapidated asbestos pipes were replaced and renewed with new plastic pipes of different diameters, and new pipes were extended and reinforced during the previous years to solve the problem of weak and interrupted water in the deprived villages, which are the expansions of Al-Bayda Engineers Village, Training Center 2 Village, Karnak Village and Al-Hawis Village, at a cost of 5 million pounds. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Drinking Water Company pointed out that in the field of reducing loss (leakage), work has been completed in the Rabaa Al-Nasriya and Nubaria areas, where loss has been reduced in the fifth village from 39%: 21%, and the sixth village from 32%: 18%, and in the Ezbet Al-Muwazafin area, and 6 new areas are being selected to work on them as (DMAs), which are (Ezbet Al-Baktoshi - Ezbet Al-Qalaa - Zarzara - Nasr Street Housing in Smouha - Pumps area in Al-Max - 6th of October area in Ajami), and in the field of energy conservation, street lighting fixtures are being replaced in all stations with LED fixtures, and it is expected to save (1-2)% of the cost, in addition to the company's plan to replace low-efficiency engines with high-efficiency ones, and to establish two solar power generation stations with a capacity of 60 kW as a pilot model above the main center and the Kom Al-Dikka building. In the field of customer service and hotline, Eng. Ahmed Gaber said: The company's hotline department won first place among the companies affiliated to the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, for the fiscal year 2017/2018, through field review, as the company excelled in activating receiving complaints through electronic channels (company website - WhatsApp application) in addition to activating the centralization of complaints within branches, laboratories, and customer service centers, in addition to raising the evaluation of the performance of control units and developing performance and field follow-up. The construction of internal customer service outlets is being completed in the areas of Wardian, Borg El Arab, El Mina, and El Mansheya 2, and an external customer service outlet at the port, in addition to an integrated services complex in the Kom El Dekka area that contains an internal customer service outlet that serves customers of the Ibrahimia branch to which it will be transferred. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Drinking Water Company added: In the field of educating citizens, the company carries out many campaigns in schools to raise awareness of the importance of rationalizing consumption, rehabilitating toilets, pruning and watering trees, and repairing school furniture, in addition to other campaigns in cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments in public and private mosques such as mosques attached to public clubs, and also in churches throughout the governorate, in addition to participating in medical convoys in the areas of Abu Sir, Abis 8, Old Borg El Arab, Ajami, Khorshid, the airport, and Al-Ameriya, to raise awareness by rationalizing water consumption and its importance, and highlighting the company's services such as cleaning tanks and contacting the hotline service to report any problem, or to inquire about any information. He pointed out that in the field of community participation, the company signed a cooperation protocol with the petroleum sector to deliver water to deprived areas and the most needy families in the Nahda area in Ameria, Alexandria Governorate. The company always seeks to excel in forming civil society committees to achieve effectiveness among all pillars of civil and local society within the governorate and the participation of all sectors of civil society to support drinking water issues, through a trained and qualified work team keen on raising awareness and community marketing, in addition to creating an activity to change stopped meters for poor families, as the company studies the condition of poor families, and the stopped meters are replaced with used meters from the company's meters that have been repaired. Approximately 3,000 families have been served by extending projects in poor areas at a total cost of about 6.2 million pounds, in addition to making home connections for drinking water for 725 families in cooperation with charitable associations and institutions, at a cost of about 1.6 million pounds. Eng. Ahmed Gaber, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Drinking Water Company, said: Instructions were issued to conduct the necessary advertising for many customers to raise awareness of the importance and advantages of using water-saving devices in rationalizing water consumption through audio, visual and written sources, in addition to personal interviews. All directorates and undersecretaries of the governorate were also contacted to quickly use the devices. The devices have already been installed in many facilities, mosques, schools and hospitals. He added: The company's employees with special needs (5%) have been trained, along with the necessary equipment to help them obtain the necessary training that suits their circumstances.
